Abstract
A fabricated article or a mould or former is coated by spraying, dipping, or brushing with alternate layers of polyisobutene and of rubber, synthetic rubber, or rubber-like composition, e.g., a polyisobutene layer may be enclosed between two layers of rubber. The rubber may be vulcanised before or after association with the polyisobutene. Both materials may be applied as aqueous dispersions or organic solvent solutions. The composite film or coating resists penetration by mustard gas and other noxious liquids, gases, and vapours.ALSO:A film resistant to penetration by mustard gas and other noxious liquids, gases and vapours has alternate layers of isobutene and of rubber, synthetic rubber or rubber-like composition, e.g. a polyisobutene layer between two rubber layers. The rubber may be vulcanized before or after association with the polyisobutene. The film may be built up on a former or mould by spraying, dipping or brushing successively with the two materials as aqueous dispersions or organic solvent solutions.
