[Class 46] [Also in Group IX] A ring-shaped filter element for fitting on to a hollow tube comprises sheets 18, 18a of woven wire material separated by a supporting member 19, the woven material having been flattened so as to have a thickness after flattening not substantially greater than that of the wire before weaving. The sheets 18, 18a are bound with ferrules 20 at their inner edges and at their outer edges are clamped against a ferrule 21 by a ring 22.
