Abstract
590,763. Sliding doors. RADLEY, L. W., and BENHAM & SONS, Ltd. April 18, 1945, No. 9728. [Class 20 (iii)] [Also in Group XIV] A sliding door, e.g., of a cabinet (see Group XIV), is hung on a rail and guided by one or more rolling elements, engaging from below a track under the threshold of the doorway, the elements being carried by a part rigidly fixed to the door and projecting under the guide track. In the form shown, a sheet metal cabinet has two flanged steel doors 12, 13 guided by rollers 35, Fig. 5, engaging in tracks 33, 34 of inverted channel section under the cabinet floor 3 thus avoiding accumulation of dust. The doors are hung on rails, Fig. 4, formed by two angle members 16, 21 bolted to a channel member 18 welded to the front 7 of the cabinet. The rails support rollers 26 mounted in U-shaped members 30 having flanges welded to the doors. Each door has two spaced rollers at top and bottom and stops are provided on each side of the cabinet and on the rear of the front door 12.
