Abstract

590,575. Bottle &c. closures. WILLIAMS, A. J., DYSON, W. J., and WALLIS TIN STAMPING CO., Ltd. Jan. 22, 1945, No. 1742. [Class 125 (iii)] A bottle &c. with a closure of the Phoenix type, comprising a flanged cap 14 and a removable sealing band 16 is characterized in that the flange 11, 12 on the container is circumferentially grooved at 13 between its lower edge and the top of the container, the groove being provided with a single interruption 19, forming an abutment preferably with sloping sides 20, and in that the flange 15 on the cap 14 is provided with two diametrically opposite extensions 18 each reaching around a substantial part of the circumference of the flange with its lower edge inwardly directed to clip into the groove 13 of the bottle &c. flange and hold the cap in sealing position, the corners 21 of the extensions, which are preferably rounded, engaging the abutment 19, when the cap is part-rotated, upon removal of the band 16, to force the extensions out of the groove and allow the cap 14 to be removed. The cap 14 may be used as a re-seal closure.
