Abstract

589,362. Gauging apparatus. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., HARDMAN, J. H., and CARR, F. R. Jan. 4, 1945, No. 331. [Class 106 (ii)] An apparatus for testing wheel alignment, consists of two members 1, 1a, each alignable with one of a pair of wheels under test, one of the members 1a having a vertical mirror 6 secured thereto, and the other 1, having a mounting 9, rotatable about a vertical axis and provided with means for indicating its angular movement about the axis. The mounting is provided with a sighting mark 7 and has mounted in it a reflector 11, inclined to the vertical axis at such an angle that the reflection of the sighting-mark, from the mirror 6, may be viewed through an eye-piece 12. A datum line 15 is marked on the reflector. The members 1, 1a each have a pair of wheel-connecting fingers 4 projecting horizontally at right angles therefrom; each finger being provided with a clamp 5 so that it may be moved along the member when used for wheels of different diameters. The members 1, 1a are supported on legs, provided with wheels 3. Specification 455,440 is referred to.
