Abstract
589,066. Framed reinforcements for concrete. JONES & CO., Ltd., T. C., and WOLLEY, A. L. Dec. 11, 1944, No. 24781. [Class 20 (iv)] Concrete structures are reinforced by preformed flat or box frames, each comprising two or more longitudinal round metal bars, connected together and spaced apart by a single continuous wire rod, bent to a zig-zag shape and welded to the rods at its points of contact. As shown in Fig. 1, a typical frame has two rods 1 connected by a wire 2. The frames may be carried as shown in Fig. 8, by vertical column reinforcements, also formed as frames consisting of circular rods 4 and connecting wires 2a, with horizontal bars 5 secured to the columns to support the reinforcing frames, which have additional rods 1a welded to the ends of the rods 1 for connection with the bars 5. As shown in the Figure three frames (the zig-zag connecting wires of which are omitted for clarity), are used for each reinforcement, and are space apart by wire clips or the like. The vertical column reinforcement comprises a plurality of separate superimposed frames, each having a smaller cross-section than the adjacent frame, with rods connected to the upper end of one frame extending within the lower end of the adjacent frame, so that they may be connected together.
