Abstract
588,222. Sifting-apparatus. ARNOLD, J. C. (Tyler Co., W. S.). Feb. 6, 1945, No. 3034. [Class 117] A rod deck unit for screens for sifting or sorting comprises a number of metal rods with rubber sleeves at their ends and at intermediate points, and metal clamp bars engaging these rubber sleeves and maintaining the rods in spaced parallel relation, means being also provided for securing the bars to each other. In the example shown, rods 19 extend into holes in rubber blocks 20 and the middle parts of the rods pass through another rubber block 21. Clamping members 18 force blocks 20 down against angle iron bars 3 and as the other blocks 20 are held down by a T bar 6, the rods are bent as shown, against bars 13. Cross members 5 combine with members 3 and 6 to form a rigid frame. In an alternative construction, the rods 19 may extend across the whole width of the screen and be provided with encasing rubber clamping means at three intermediate points to produce the double arch construction by flexing one rod.
