Abstract
587,811. Discharging slag. AKT.-GES. BROWN, BOVERI & CIE., and ROTHENBACH, W. Jan. 17, 1945, No. 1443. Convention date, Jan. 17, 1944. [Class 51 (i)] [Also in Group II] Slag is discharged from a combustion or gasification chamber A operating under pressure into a closed vessel B containing water connected directly to the chamber A, the slag being thereby quenched and granulated and its sensible and latent heat used to generate steam which passes off through a valve-controlled pipe F. The lower part of the chamber A is formed with a slag-collecting well having an overflow edge C, the slag being maintained fluid at this point by a burner H. The cooled and granulated slag is removed from the vessel B by a rotary pocketed drum D.
