Abstract

Normally gaseous olefins are converted to liquids of gasoline boiling range by passage in admixture with 0.2-5 mol. per cent of steam over a chromia-alumina catalyst at 750-850 DEG F. and 1200-2800 p.s.i. Propylene of 95 per cent purity may be reacted at 775-785 DEG F. and 2200 p.s.i., .25-1.4 mol. per cent of steam being added. Reaction times may be .5-180 mins. The gasoline cut contains olefins, paraffins, naphthenes and some aromatics.
