Abstract

A hydrocarbon conversion catalyst is prepared by treating bentonite clay with 45-150 parts of H2SO4 per 100 parts of clay, the acid being diluted to a concentration of 2-60 per cent., and then impregnating with 0.5-10 per cent. of alumina and/or calcium oxide, magnesium oxide, or zirconium oxide. Specifications 324,541, [Class 1 (i)], 396,780 and 483,184 are referred to.
