Abstract

585,313. Pliers. WEBB, C. D. H., CARR, A. F., and PLESSEY CO., Ltd. Feb. 20, 1945, No. 4242. [Class 61 (ii)] A manually or mechanically operated tool-for crimping a tag on to an electrical conductor acting first to clamp the tag and then to deform it comprises crossed lever arms 1, 2 pivoted together at 7 and terminating in jaws 4, 5 fitted with crimping pins 6 and pairs of side jaw plates 8, 9 also pivoted together at 7 and having recesses 29 to receive semi-circular jaws 11, 12 carried by shanks 13 secured by screws 14 to the side jaw plates 8, 9, the jaws 11, 12 having central holes 30 through which the crimping pins may move. The side jaw plates 8, 9 have pins 10 engaging cam slots 16 in side plates 15 connected by toggles 116 to the lever arms, the cam slots acting to clamp the jaws 11, 12 on the tag prior to crimping by the pins 6.
