Abstract

A porous mass of sintered metal powder for use in a heat-exchanger which also serves as a filter for one of the liquids, is formed by filling a frame through which the tubes of the heat-exchanger extend, with a mixture of powdered metals, and placing the whole of it in a sintering furnace. The metals employed may be copper and tin in the ratio of 9 to 1, copper and nickel, copper and zinc, or iron containing a little copper and phosphorus.
