Abstract

580,929. Windshield stays. WORCESTER WINDSHIELDS & CASEMENTS, Ltd., and JONES, A. E. E. July 27, 1944, No. 14321. [Class 65 (i)] A compound stay for a windshield 1 is formed of a main stay 5, pivoted at 4 to a fixed member and having a pin-and-slot connection 6 at the other end, and an auxiliary stay 9, pivoted at 10, and having a slot 11 through which passes a clamping screw 12. The slot may be kinked at the bottom. The stay 9 may be pivoted to the main stay 5, and secured in position by a screw 12 to the back-plate 3. The pin 6 may be on an eccentric to permit of adjustment. In a modification, the auxiliary stay is pivoted at its lower end to the bracket 3 at a point vertically below the main stay pivot 4. A further arrangement shows the two stay parts 5, 9, with curved slots through which the clamping screw passes.
