Abstract
579,603. Snap-action switches; interrupters. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., and CLARK, F. J. June 1, 1944, No. 10558. [Class 38 (v)] A drum controller consists of strikers 14, 14<1> adjustably mounted on the metal or insulating discs 12 which form the drum, by means of screws and square nuts 15 situated in the slots 13. The discs 12 are mounted on shaft 11 and are rotated by gear wheel 18 or by a handwheel. When the strikers 14 engage rollers 16 on rocker arm 4, which is pivoted at 5, the arm is forced downwards until the spring 8, attached to the bracket 7 and to the rear end of the arm 4, moves over its deadcentre position, the resiliently mounted contact 3 then bridging fixed contacts 2 with a snap action. Upon further rotation of the drum, striker 14<1> engages rollers 17 and moves the rear end of rocker arm 4 downwards to open the contacts with a snap action.
