[Class 61 (ii)] A device for inserting a spring ring 6 into its recess 7 in the housing 1 consists of a barrel 9 with internal splines 12 parallel for the upper part of their length and tapering inwardly at the lower part 13 and a splined plunger 11 of uniform diameter shaped at the end 14 to push the ring through the contracting lower part of the barrel whereupon it springs open into the recess 7.
