Abstract

568,926. Gauges. WOODWARD, F. E. June 19, 1943, No. 9915. [Class 106 (ii)] A plug gauge is formed from a length of tubing made of glass or other vitreous material or as a pressing made of similar material with recesses at each end shaped or moulded in the blank for receiving poppet centres to support the blank during the process of grinding the testing surfaces. As shown in Fig. 1 a glass tube 1 has testing surfaces 2 at each end, the ends of the. bore 3 forming poppet centres. The surfaces form a " go " and "no go " gauge the size of which is marked on an inserted label 8. As shown in Fig. 2, the gauge is formed as a glass pressing with recesses 6 forming the poppet centres.
