579,135. Thrashing-machines. CLARK, A. D. Nov. 17, 1943, No. 19212. Convention date, May 14. [Class 58] A thrashing-machine, particularly for grain, peas, beans and like crops, comprises a rotating drum 6, Fig. 1, provided with a number of beater bars 8 arranged parallel to its axis, which bars have at least their contact surfaces covered with rubber or equivalent resilient material and which co-operate with similarly constructed concave bars 9 arranged towards the upper side of an enclosing casing 1 to carry out the threshing operation, the bars 8, 9 being spaced respectively from the drum and casing on which they are mounted. The casing has an outlet opening 3 at its base for the discharge of the thrashed material on to suitably positioned sieving and winnowing means 4. In the construction shown the bars 9 are arranged in pairs, and the casing 1 has an inlet 2 fitted near its mouth with an adjustable lip plate 15. As shown in Fig. 4, each bar 8 is carried by lugs 7 on drum 6, and consists of a rod 12 bolted to the lugs and surrounded by metal piping 11 which in turn has a rubber covering sleeve 10. The bars 9 are similarly constructed, being carried by end lugs projecting from the casing.
