Abstract
578,890. Wall structures. DAVISON, R. L. March 10, 1944, No. 4489. [Classes 20 (iii) and 20 (iv)] A framing structure in a building having horizontally extending wall units comprises one or more pairs of long jaw elements, each element having cooperating projecting ribs which are adapted to form upper and lower channels between each pair of elements and clamping means to bring the jaw elements together to clamp the upper and lower wall units. As shown jaw elements 20, 21 which act as a lintel for a window 19 have projecting ribs 20a, 21a which form channels to support an upper wall unit 16 and the window frame 15, the jaw elements being clamped together by screws 22. Pointed pegs 31 may be employed to secure the parts against relative movement. A similar arrangement forms the sill for the window. Mullions may be formed as shown in Fig. 6, the jaw 35 being chamfered on the face 35a to form a wedge shaped space 38 which permits very tight clamping between the jaws. Weather proofing material 32 may be inserted between the jaw elements and the wall units when required. Specifications 543,741 and 557,078 are referred to.
