Abstract
578,234. Chairs. PAUL, E. T. March 16, 1944, No. 4957. [Class 52 (ii)] A reclining chair in which the angle between the seat and back can be varied by an alteration in the position of the user, consists of a back 16 pivoted at 28 to rear hanger bars 27, one at each side, pivoted at 26 to the chair frame 14. The seat, hinged to the back at 20, is pivoted at 25 to front hanger bars 21, one at each side, pivoted at 22 to the chair frame 14. The lower ends of the front and rear hanger bars are pivoted, at each side, to a rail 23 provided with an extension 24 carrying a foot rest. Stops 31 secured to the chair frame limit the rearward movement of the seat. A stop 30, secured to the seat, abuts against the rails 23 to limit the forward movement of the seat in which position the pivots 20 lie on the longitudinal centre lines of the rear hanger bars. The extensions 24 contact the ground when the seat is at its rearmost position.
