Abstract
578,103. Two-part couplings. TINNERMAN PRODUCTS, Inc. Feb. 23, 1944, No. 3329. Convention date, June 28, 1943. [Class 38 (i)] [Also in Group XXV] A fastening device for connecting an article having a male thread to another article, e.g., a high tension cable terminal to a sparking plug, comprises a strip of sheet metal bent to a U-shape having two resilient arms 20, the base 21 of the U being apertured and having yieldable tongues 22 projecting into the aperture to engage, for example, the threaded stem 11 of a sparking plug 10 &c. The cooperating member which in the example shown is a terminal in the form of a metal tube 16, is slid endwise over the arms 20, an indentation 21 in the tube engaging a transverse groove 30 in the arms thus preventing further endwise movement but permitting the terminal to swivel. The lower portions of the arms 20 have flat surfaces 26 engageable by a wrench. Fig. 7 shows the connector used with a terminal 35 of the type having forked ends 36, which are forced endwise into the grooved portions 30 of the arms 20.
