Abstract

576,097. Dielectric heating. GENERAL ELECTRIC Co., Ltd., and LEYTON, E. M. Oct. 5, 1942, No. 13975. [Class 39 (iii)] In treating slabs 1 of d:electric material such as plywood in an electric field of about ten megacycles frequency while pressed between a pair of conducting plates 2 which may be the pressure plates of a press, an even number of slabs is placed between the plates and a sheet 3 of conducting material preferably metal is placed between each adjacent pair of slabs, and the outer plates and every alternate sheet 3 counting from the plates and excluding the two sheets nearest to the plates are connected to the earthy terminal 5 of a high frequency supply 6 by leads 4. the other sheets being connected by leads 8 to the live terminal 7 of the supply. Several different sets of lam'nations of plywood may thus be bonded. A sheet of conducting material may be placed between an outer plate and the slab of dielectric material nearest to it.
