Abstract
576.000. Roller bearings. STALLMAN, R. F. Nov. 3, 1943, No. 18213. [Class 12 (i)] Misalignment of cylindrical or taper rollers is prevented by means engageable with the rollers midway between their ends The rollers 12, Fig. 2, or needles have a reduced central part 13 engaged by a ring 15 integral with or secured to the stationary outer or inner races 10, 11. The ring 15 may be a split ring engaging a groove in its race. To retain the rollers when the other race is removed, a split ring 16 is provided around the necks 13 without engaging the adjacent race. The edges of the rings may be relieved to facilitate grinding the race. With taper rollers, Fig. 10, the necks 44 have inclined shoulders 45, 46, the guide ring having correspondingly inclined sides. The bearing parts L, L' may be of equal or different lengths.
