Abstract

575,948. Brickwork corners. MALTHOUSE. E. G. Feb. 24, 1944, No. 3435. [Class 87 (i)] A method of building a brickwork corner unit comprises laying bricks on a templet having ribs locating the relative positions of the bricks, with gaps between bricks at one end of courses and reinforcing and bonding these bricks to form one section which is then supported on the end containing the gaps on a like templet, a second wall section being laid, reinforced and bonded with bricks at one end of course filling the gaps in the supported end. As shown a base 20 with retaining walls 22 and 23 and buttresses 21 has projections 24 locating the positions in which bricks are laid and blocking pieces 25 locating gaps in alternate courses. A filler stop 26 fits into a corner and has its exposed side stepped and inclined to the line of the courses. The completed section after bonding with cement and hardening is supported at any desired angle on the end containing the gaps by a bracket 33 on a second similar templet and a second section of a corner built with bricks fitting the gaps in the first section. In a modification Fig. 8 (not shown), the first section is made of double thickness and second and third sections are built on opposite sides forming a double corner. In a further modification, Fig. 11 (not shown), the central double section may be continued on the opposite side of the second and third sections to form four corners. The bricks may be reinforced both vertically and transversely. Specification 563,986 is referred to.
