Abstract
575,641. Filters. FORD, Ltd., T. B., and SCHWELB, R. Feb. 17, 1944, No. 2959. [Class 46] [Also in Group XXVIII] In a filter for liquids or gases, comprising a shallow cylindrical casing one or each side of which is closed by a filter mat supported between a spider and a perforated lid, the lid is pressed resiliently against the mat along its periphery by detachable clips. As shown in Figs. 2 and 3, a casing 10 is provided with a spider 12 on each side of which is a wile gauze frame 13. The frame supports a filter mat 14 the edge of which fits closely against the inside of the casing 10. The mat is held in place by means of a rib 101 on the casing and a perforated flanged lid 15. The lids are secured to the casing by pivoted spring clips 16. The fluid to be filtered passes through the filter mats and is discharged through an outlet 11. In a modification the lids are not flanged but bear at their edges on the filter mats along the periphery.' In a further modification shown in Fig. 5, the casing 10 is provided with two annuli 17 each having an edge 171 against which the mat is held by the pressure of the lid 152. According to the Provisional Specification, a number of filter units may be arranged in parallel, the interior of each casing being separately connected to a common outlet.
