Abstract
797,957. Filters. BRITISH FILTERS, Ltd. Nov. 13, 1956 [Jan. 5, 1956], No. 451/56. Class 46. [Also in Group XXVIII] Fluid filter elements of leaf or sheet form adapted to be assembled in pack or stack formation and mounted in a filter casing each comprise a pair of pervious filter sheets 1 and 2 secured by any convenient means 5 and 6, and separated by a readily pervious spacing medium 4 e.g. coarse felted glass fibre; a central aperture 3 is provided. On each side of the leaf a sealing surface which may comprise a ring 7, 8 of synthetic resinous or like material is provided encircling the central aperture 3 and divides the surface into two areas, the inner area being considerably the smaller. The leaves are mounted in the filter casing and may be assembled on a perforated tube 10, as shown in the exploded view, Fig. 3, with their sealing rings 7, 8 in engagement to form a pack ; end plates 11 and 12 are secured to the tube at a predetermined distance apart. Fluid flows over the larger inlet areas of the leaves and passes inwardly through the spacing medium to the inner outlet areas and thence through the perforated tube 10 to the outlet.
