Abstract
573,248. Endless-belt conveyers. KIRK, F. H., and WEST, A. Nov. 11, 1943, No. 18783. [Class 78 (i)] In an endless-belt conveyer any material which falls on to the lower run passes through apertures in the return drum, is discharged through its ends and is then returned to the upper run by an elevator. The drum 10 consists of end spiders 14 which are connected by spaced slats 17. Members 13 within. the drum and rotating with it direct the material to the ends through which it falls into the path of scoops 20. These scoops are carried by arms 18 which are pivoted to the spiders and are constrained by cam plates 22 to remain vertical except at the top of their path where a cut-away portion 28 and a cam 29 cause them to move inwards to discharge the contents of the scoops on to the top run of the belt. An inverted V-shaped floor 31 causes the material to pile up in the path of the scoops.
