[Class 99 (i)] [Also in Group XXII] A welded joint between pipe section b, b<1>, has an insulated ring having a central bead a<2> to prevent welding metal, scale &c. from running or falling into the'pipe. The ring is such that strain produced during manufacture and relieved by the heating during welding causes the ring to tend to expand.
