Abstract
570,315. Flyer spinning frames. MACKIE & SONS, Ltd., J., and MACKIE, J. P. Nov. 1, 1943, No. 18045. [Class 120 (ii)] In wet spinning frames for flax &c., the flyer is provided with a horizontal curved guide member d<1>, above the highest point reached by the bobbin but below the wharf h, the guide member being offset from the axis of the flyer so as to bring its effective guiding surface, over which the yarn passes to the leg of the flyer, to a position for guiding the yarn down the axis o of flyer from the delivery rollers. In a modification, the guide member, which may be of tungsten carbide, is carried by a bridge piece extending between and gripping the arms c of the flyer. The bridge piece may be provided with a side slot to facilitate threading. In a further modification, the guide member is U-shaped and is welded or brazed to a plate secured to the under surface of the flyer top. The arrangement of the guide member is stated to permit the twist to run right back to the nip of the delivery rollers which are arranged to deliver directly over the axis of the flyer.
