Abstract

570,082. Conveyers. MITCHELL, F. G. April 6, 1943, No. 5512. [Class 78 (i)] Coal &c. is conveyed from a dump to another location'by an underground feeding conveyer 24 and an elevating conveyer of the band or drag type disposed at an angle thereto. The conveyor 24 is of the oscillating type and comprises a reciprocating carrier plate 44 furnished with spill skirts 45 and riding on idle rollers 42 suitably mounted crosswise of the trench 26 in which the conveyer is located. The trench cover-plate 30 has openings 32 in its length through which the coal falls on to the plate 44, and the trench has a well at the point where the elevating conveyer extends beneath the feeding conveyer 24. At this location the plate 44 has an orifice through which the coal drops on the lower end of the elevator, the coal being fed along the plate 44 by hinged flaps swingable in one direction only from their vertical position. The conveyer 24 may be replaced by two separate conveyers, one on each side of the well.
