Abstract
569,885. Endless track vehicles. ROADLESS TRACTION, Ltd., and TRIPP, L. W. July 12, 1943, No. 11281. [Class 79 (i)] For converting a vehicle having driving wheels 1 fitted with pneumatic tyres into an endless-track vehicle, a sprocket ring made in complementary segments is adapted to embrace a pneumatic tyre 2 and to be assembled thereon so as to convert the wheel into a sprocket wheel, the underside of the ring having a surface formation matching the tread 3 on the tyre. As shown, each sprocket ring comprises a driving ring 4 and a toothed ring 5, each formed in segments, the segments of the ring 4 being bolted together at the joints 6 and the four segments of the ring 5 being secured by bolts 9 to the ring 4. The endless-track 11, of the locked girder type, also passes around an idler wheel 13. The track links 14 are hinged together by pins 15 and have extensions 16 of their side plates engaging abutments 17 projecting from the side plates of adjacent links to prevent the links from moving into reverse angular relationship. Rollers 19 on the pins 15 are in driving engagement at 21 with the teeth 20 of the ring 5.
