Abstract

568,466. Rotary kilns. VICKERS-ARMSTRONGS, Ltd., and PARKER, L. D. Dec. 22, 1943, No. 21476. [Class 51 (ii)] In a rotary kiln A for burning cement, ore &c., the material is supplied to the kiln through a number of tubes f arranged longitudinally in a circle within the kiln where it is preheated or dried before entering the kiln by hot gases from the kiln passing radially outwards between the tubes on their way to the exit flue. The material is fed into the casing a<1> and delivered by buckets b to a central chamber c provided with helical guides d. It then falls through radial chutes e into the tubes f which convey it to discharge chutes g mounted on a cone h attached to the kiln shell and forming a reduced outlet for the kiln gases. Removable spiral lifters k lead the material away from the chutes g.
