Abstract
567,731. Electric resonators. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., and CHATTERJEA, P. K. July 26, 1943, No. 12115. [Class 40 (iii)] [Also in Group XI] A high-frequency generator is connected to a transmission line in the field of which material to be heated is placed. The line may comprise a pair of parallel plates 2, 3 connected at the remote end by an impedance 4 and enclosing a travelling belt 5 carrying the material to be heated, or a coaxial line 6, 7, Fig. 2, may be inclined so that powder supplied from a hopper 8 travels through to a receptacle 9. The distribution of the heating effect depends on the conditions as to stariding waves and hence on the wave-length and terminal impedance. The line may have non-uniform characteristics, the plates being stepped, inclined, or curved, Figs. 4-6 (not shown). The outer conductor 6, Fig. 2, may be in the form of a trough.
