Abstract
567,482. Retractive switches. MICRO SWITCH CORPORATION. Oct. 6, 1943, No. 16386. Convention date, Dec. 16, 1942. [Class 38 (v)] An operating mechanism for a retractive switch comprises a pivoted, spring-returned operating lever having means for engaging when depressed, the operating member of the retractive switch, the said means being disengageable from the operating member to permit return of the latter while the lever is still depressed. The lever may be actuated by the throttle-lever of an aircraft-engine in its closed position and give a warning that parts of the craft are not ready for a landing operation. For a four-engine aircraft, four such switches 8 ... 12, each of the type described in Specification 419,917, are assembled on a rod 21 between ears 19 of brackets on a common frame 15, and between each switch and the ears 19 are supporting members 29, 31 for the operating mechanism. A lever 34 adapted to be depressed by the associated throttle-lever, Fig. 1 (not shown), has a pair of ears 36 pivoted on a rivet 33 interconnecting the members 29, 31, and is held in the raised position, with flanges 45 thereon engaging stops 46, by a spring 40. A spring-plunger 48, mounted with freedom to tilt in an aperture in the )ever 34, lies over the press-button 28 so that, on depression of lever 34, the button is in turn depressed to operate the switch, the plunger-arrangement being such as to allow over-travel of lever 34 without damage to the switch. The plunger normally moves within a reduced part 57 of a transverse rod 53, which can be slid axially to tilt the plunger, the rods of all the switches being in abutting relation and maintained by spring 64 in the position shown. By pushing handle 62 inwards, the plunger of such switches as have been closed are moved clear of the buttons, which instantly restore, the handle 62 being then released in readiness for the release of any other button that may be depressed.
