Abstract

567,474. Plate - clamping devices. GENERAL AIRCRAFT, Ltd., and LEATHER, G. B. Aug. 19, 1943, No. 13548. [Class 83 (iv)] [Also in Group XXV] A device for use in clamping drilled plates &c. during connection by bolting or riveting, and stated to be applicable also in building up sheets of wood or plastic &c. material into laminated form, comprises a stud 1 with a head 2 having an inclined or cam surface 5, and a shank of diameter to fit the drilled tube, of length somewhat shorter than the combined thickness of the plates, and drilled eccentrically to receive a clamping member 6 bent to form a handle 9 and provided with a wing 7 to ride on the surface 5 and a head 8 of the same diameter and eccentricity as the shank. The device is inserted with the head 8 and shank concentric, the parts being then turned relatively to the position shown in which the head 8 engages under the plates and the cam and wing effect the clamping.
