Abstract
An insecticide consists of a mixture of a finely divided or porous diluent with a compound of the formula <FORM:0566387/IV/1> wherein X is chlorine or bromine, R1 and R2 are organic radicals having respectively at least 3 and at least 5 carbon atoms, and wherein R1 and R2 are different from each other or bound by carbon to the CH group. Examples of diluents are talc, pumice, kiesel, charcoal, &c. Examples of compounds are: (1) phenyl-4 - chlorophenyl - trichlorethane; (2) phenyl - p - tolyl - trichlorethane; (3) 4 - chloro - 41 - docecyl - diphenyl-trichloro-ethane. The preparation of the last compound is described.
