Abstract
566,151. Building units. C.U.R.A. PATENTS, Ltd., and DUNCAN, R. A. May 14, 1943, No. 7722. [Class 87 (i)] A building element for building structures, wherein the units are held together by concrete &c. consists of a flat tile 9 formed along one side and the top edge respectively with a U- shaped trough section 13 and a ledge 12, both extending back from the body of the tile. A number of such tiles may be assembled away from the building site into a unit, as shown in Fig. 5, with the troughs and ledges overlapped by the free edges 15, 17 and concrete may be poured into the closed horizontal ledge 12 and metal reinforcement rods may be laid therein prior to pouring with the ends extending into the closed vertical trough 13. These compound units may be erected into a rigid wall by pouring concrete into the continuous vertical troughs formed at their abutments after inserting vertical metal reinforcing rods therein. A modified corner element has a rearward flange on the other vertical edge and another modification has the trough 13 duplicated on the other vertical edge.
