Abstract
565,979. Conveyers. FITZPATRICK, J. Nov. 28, 1942, No. 16921. [Class 78 (i)] In a belt conveyer of the kind made in sections each comprising an endless belt and means for driving the belt in each section from the adjacent section, the sections are coupled together by means of keys M, Fig. 4, passed through keyholes K, L in overlapping plates J, F of the sections, each key being provided with lugs N which, in the locked position, lie outside the plates and prevent endwise movement of the key. In the construction shown, the belt (not shown) passes over rollers carried by the side plates F and is driven by means of a chain wheel A on one roller engaging a chain B fixed to the belt. The chain wheel roller is geared at C to a longitudinal shaft E provided with spigot and socket joints at its ends, so that when the sections are joined together the shafts E form a continuous shaft, the full length of the conveyer. The belts are inclined so that the delivery end H of each section is higher than and overhangs the receiving end of the next section.
