[Class 83 (i)] [Also in Group XXIX] A device for selectively moving a core first in one direction and then in the other, includes an intensifier adapted to exert intensified pressure on the core to start its movement in the second direction. The core is mounted on a rod 26 connected to a piston 13 in a fixed cylinder 9 and is ex. tracted by admitting pressure fluid at 10 while ex. hausting at 11. The pressure fluid forces down a piston 20, against the action of a spring 29, thereby forcing fluid at a greater pressure from the chamber 23 through a passage 27 into the cylinder 9 below the piston 13 which is thereby moved up to start the core. Fluid in the space 20b passes via a passage 33 and one - way valve 34 to exhaust. This movement of the piston 20 uncovers a port 32 and admits fluid pressure from 10 direct to the lower end of the cylinder, thus completing the extraction. When the pressure at 10 is released, the spring 29 returns the piston 20 to its original position, the spaces 20b and 23 being refilled via passages 30 and 27 from the lower end of the cylinder 9. When pressure is admitted at 11 and exhausted at 10, the core is inserted in the mould by downward movement of the piston 13, the fluid in the lower end of the cylinder 9 escaping via passages 31 and 33.
