Abstract

Resinous condensation products are made by heating together under alkaline conditions an aldehyde and a ,b -bis-(4,6-diamino s-triazinyl-2 thio acetamido)ethane. The aldehydes used, the ways in which the products may be modified, the compositions which may be formed therefrom and the applications to which the products may be put are all as described in Specification 563,375. a ,b -bis-(4,6-diamino s-triazinyl-2 thio acetamido)ethane is prepared by mixing a solution of thioammeline in sodium hydroxide and a ,b -bis-(chloroacetamido ethane in ethyl alcohol and heating with stirring. After standing the precipitate is filtered off, washed free of soluble salts and dried. Specifications 542,932, 554,195; and 9244/41, 10917/41, 1458/42, and 8941/42 (all as open to inspection under Sect. 91) are referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also the use of compounds of the formula <FORM:0564576/IV/1> where n is 1 or 2, Z is oxygen or sulphur, R is hydrogen or a monovalent hydrocarbon or substituted hydrocarbon radical and R1 is a divalent hydrocarbon or substituted hydrocarbon radical. A large number of such compounds is listed. Salts (organic or inorganic) may also be used. It is also stated that the condensation may be effected under neutral or acid conditions. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
