Abstract

564,426. Toothed gearing. KNIGHT, S. B. March 19, 1943, No. 4473. [Classes 80 (i) and 80 (ii)] [Also in Group XI] A head, spot, or fog lamp for vehicles is mounted on a plate 16 which is adjustable about vertical and horizontal axes by means of a hand wheel 29 and knob 30 mounted coaxially on the vehicle dash-board. The plate 16 is carried by a quadrant 17 pivoted by a horizontal bolt 15 to a bracket 14 carried by a quadrant 11 which is pivoted by a vertical bolt 12 to a base-plate 10 attached to the vehicle. The quadrants 11, 17 are engaged respectively by worms 13, 18 connected by flexible connections 19, 20 with the hand wheel 29 and knob 30. The flexible connections 19, 20 consist of wires or cables 21b, 20b enclosed in flexible housings 21a, 20a having at their ends ferrules 39 secured by sleeves 38 to the lugs supporting the worms 13, 18 and to a plate 23 attached to a plate 22 on a sleeve secured by a nut 22c to the dashboard. The wires 21b, 20b are fitted at their ends with collars 31 to prevent axial movement and have flat-and-slot or equivalent connection with the worms 13, 18, a pinion shaft 25 geared to the hand wheel 29, and the spindle of the knob 30.
