Abstract

A felt core is enveloped with sponge rubber which is moulded thereon and bonds the surface fibres of the felt, the product being made by assembling pieces of rubber which incorporate a blowing agent, e.g. ammonium carbonate, about the felt, either within a mould, or externally and then placing the assemblage in the mould and vulcanizing &c. The felt may comprise wool, cotton linters, or needle-loom felt, and the product may have an impervious skin. Specification 559,054 is referred to.
