Abstract
563,601. Sawing. SPEAR & JACKSON, Ltd., and PARSONS, G. W. Feb. 8, 1943, No. 2073. [Class 145 (ii)] Relates to a saw of the kind in which the teeth are provided with hard metal inserts applied solely in the side faces of the teeth and extending from the front edges to the rear edges thereof. According to the invention, the inserts 11 extend downwardly from the apices of the teeth to a point distant from the bottom of the teeth, so as to leave a depth of parent metal capable of being bent at a point between the lower -boundary of each insert and the bottom of a tooth for applying " set " to the tooth. The inserts may be applied to one or both sides of each tooth, and may be inserted in recesses 10 in the teeth or so applied as to lie proud of the teeth.
