Abstract
563,386. Floors; girders. POULTER, J. H. Feb. 9, 1943, No. 2134. [Class 20 (iv)] A pre-cast reinforced concrete beam unit 20 for floors or roofs is of angle section, the angle contained between the flanges being less than a right angle. Fig. 1 shows the two flanges 21, 22, reinforced by three steel rods 23, tied together by wires 24. Many examples are shown of assemblies of these girders back to back and used to form solid or hollow floors, monolithic or with wooden floors above, with attached or suspended ceilings below. Thus, Fig. 4, a solid floor is reinforced by rods 32 passing through holes 25 in the vertical flanges. In Fig. 11, the cavities between the vertical flanges of the pair of units are filled with concrete or coke-breeze 30. Two span floors are described with adjacent or meeting ends of the beams in alignment and secured to an intermediate support.
