Abstract
562,398. Electron discharge apparatus. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Jan. 15, 1943, No. 772. Convention date, Feb. 6, 1942. [Class 39 (i)] A supporting arrangement for a cathode 16 having an internal heating element 12 comprises a member 18 attached to the cathode around an edge thereof and shaped so that a portion of its surface approaches close to the heating element for the purpose of conducting heat to the cathode. Disc-like shields 24 and 25 are placed at the top of the cathode to divert the flow of heat to the top edge of the cathode also. The supporting member is secured to a metal section 19 of the tube which may serve as a terminal. The cathode may be provided on its outside with an electron emitting thorium layer.
