Abstract
562,117. Turbines. CARTWRIGHT, W. March 9, 1943, No. 3768. [Classes 110 (ii) and 110 (iii)] The turbine rotor has two or more parallel sets of pockets F on its periphery and serrations I around the stator. Behind each pocket are two vanes C with a scavenging port B between them, the vanes being projected radially by centrifugal force. Working fluid is admitted through a port E and compressed through a crescent-shaped space D into a pocket F, fixed by a plug H and expanded until an exhaust port N is reached. The port B scavenges the serrations. It is sealed off while passing over the inlet E by a core A.
