Abstract

560,909. Valves. CANNON IRON FOUNDRIES, Ltd., CLAYTON, R. T., and OATLEY, A. F. Oct. 17, 1942, No. 14577. [Class 135] A plug cock particularly adapted for controlling the'supply of gas or gaseous mixture to a burner, has the plug provided with two control ports in series, one serving to effect a complete closure while the other provides a low consumption control and is protected from grease used to seal the plug. In the form shown in the Figure, a tapered plug f has a main port g adapted to co-operate with an inlet passage b and has a cylindrical extension j provided with a secondary port p connected by an axial passage with the port g. The extension j is housed in an extension of the cock casing provided with an outlet port c and the port p is arranged to co-operate with a slit in a sleeve o encircling the extension and held against rotation by a cross pin s secured to the casing. The pin s may engage a pair of notches in the sleeve or may engage the slit and one notch. A grease collecting groove n is provided between the two ports. Specification 545,995 is referred to.
