Abstract
560,711. Adjusting wireless apparatus. BROWNE, C. O. April 5, 1941, No. 4569. [Class 37] Axial movement of the control member of a variable reactance is effected by a pinion engaging a screw thread on.the control member, the screw thread also permitting angular rotation of the control member for trimming purposes. Fig. 2 shows the invention applied to a sliding electrode condenser, in which a pinion 11 engages a screwthreaded portion 15 to move a cylindrical electrode 8 relative to an insulated rod electrode 1 carried by an insulator 2. A slot 16 facilitates rotation of the rod 15 to cause small axial movement for trimming, the rod being held from accidental rotation by the engagement of spring-pressed balls 19 in axial slots 17. A number of condensers may be gang controlled by similar pinions on a common shaft. The invention may be applied to inductances having axially movable dust cases.
