Abstract
559,258. Caps and holders for thermionic valves. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Sept..11, 1942, No. 12840. Convention date, Sept. 17, 1941. [Class 38 (i)] [Also in Group XL] In amplifying apparatus in which a second valve holder is wired in parallel so that the valves may be removed for testing without interrupting the signalling circuit means are provided for so controlling the screen grid potential as to avoid the production of transients. The screen grid is connected to two pins 70, 71 of different length and a series resistance and shunt condenser are so arranged that during removal of a valve the screen grid potential is slowly decreased and when a valve is inserted this potential increases slowly as the condenser is charged through the resistance. Alternatively the socket co-operating with the pin 70 may be shortened to ensure the required sequence of operations. U.S.A. Specification 2,102,671 is referred to.
