Abstract

558,679. Waterproofing plasterboard. LEFEBURE, V., ETRIDGE, J. J., HIMSWORTH, F. R., and IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES. Ltd. April 7, 1942, No. 4536. [Class 140] Plasterboard is waterproofed by dipping in a medium containing a drying-oil or a drying-oilresin composition, and having a viscosity between 50 and 200 centipoises at 15‹C., and thereafter stacking till dry. Hydrocarbon solvents such as white spirit may be used as thinners. Boiled linseed oil, or a mixture of this with phenol-or urea-formaldehyde resin, or with a solution the latter in butyl alcohol may be used as the drying-oil component, and an oil dryer may be added. After stacking a baking process may be carried out.
