[Class 17 (ii)] An elastic edge-finishing strip or beading for shoes, and particularly for that portion of shoes where elastic insertions are provided, comprises a body portion 16 of elastic threads 18 bound with inelastic threads 19, which also constitute the outer cover of a bead portion 17 formed of four elastic threads 20. This strip is secured to the inside of the shoe upper, or, as shown, to the inner surface 12 of an elastic insertion F of a shoe upper, by zigzag stitching 22, or by sewing with a rubber thread, so that the portion 16 and the bead 17 are substantially in the same plane on that side which faces the inside of the shoe, while the bead portion 17 overhangs the shoe to an amount which is substantially the same as the thickness of the upper, or, as shown, of the insertion F. In a modification, the bead F contains a single elastic thread instead of the four threads 20, while in other modifications, the body portion is extended beyond the shoe upper, or elastic insertion, and formed with a thickened portion which is bent down to engage the margin of the upper or insertion in the same manner as the bead 17.
